01 Purpose and scope

This limited adaptation retains Section 3 as institutional public advocacy. Five other directional categories remain pending. Full comparison incomplete / Needs review.

Pro-choice here means public, legislative or legal support for legal abortion access and reproductive self-determination. It is not inferred from Hindu identity, personal tolerance or general pluralism. Hindu and pro-choice identities can overlap; they are not mutually exclusive groups.

Specific moral disagreement is not itself harmful treatment. Stated support, practical assistance, partnership, implemented services and measured outcomes require different evidence.

04 3. Hinduism → Pro-Choice — Supportive public advocacy

Retained as institutional advocacy only. On May 10, 2022, the Hindu American Foundation (HAF) publicly supported a woman’s choice to have an abortion and opposed legal restrictions on that choice. Source [1], opening two paragraphs and displayed date.

HAF’s policy brief explicitly supports safe, legal abortion access while acknowledging differing religious views and moral reservations. Its explanations of dharma, karma and ahimsa are attributed to HAF, not presented as a universal Hindu position. Source [2], opening position, traditions paragraph and final policy paragraph.

Classifying this as supportive advocacy is the reviewer’s application of the operational definition. It does not establish assistance to a separate pro-choice organization, a coalition, implemented services, legal change or measured outcomes. The brief elaborates the same institution’s stance; it is not independent corroboration.

RCRC publishes a Hindu-perspective resource and links HAF’s statement. This establishes editorial presentation, not a verified institutional partnership, material assistance or measured benefit to Hindu communities. Source [3]. It is not retained as a separate reverse-direction conduct example.

RESEARCH NOTES

08 Evidence and interpretation limits

The dated statement is primary evidence of HAF’s own public position. It does not represent every Hindu organization or individual. HAF’s theological explanations are institutional interpretations.

The policy brief’s publication/update date is not established. Its medical and historical-text claims and cited Pew statistic were not audited here and are not adopted as verified findings. RCRC’s linked essays, video and external resources were not inspected.

The bounded search covered HAF abortion/reproductive-rights statements and Hindus for Human Rights abortion/Roe leads. Generic Indian court rulings, nationality, tolerance, survey attitudes and teachings were excluded as substitutes for intergroup conduct. This was not an exhaustive historical or global search.

No documented routine relationship or qualifying harm was established in this pass. Missing evidence does not establish neutrality or historical absence.

RESEARCH NOTES

09 Reader-friendly synthesis

One Hindu advocacy organization publicly supported legal abortion choice. That documents its advocacy, while practical assistance, outcomes and five directional categories remain unresolved.
