RESEARCH NOTES

01 Purpose and scope

Full comparison incomplete / Needs review. 5 directional categories remain pending. Pending is not historical absence.

1. Defining Pro-Life: Pro-life conviction strictly denotes organized political, legislative, or public advocacy aimed at restricting or prohibiting abortion, protecting prenatal life, and upholding fetal personhood. It must not be automatically equated with general moral conservatism, traditional family structures, or religious belief.

2. Defining Traditional Values: Traditional values strictly denote adherence to historical customs, inherited family structures, generational social roles, religious or ancestral continuity, and moral norms passed down across generations. Traditional values must not be automatically equated with partisan political conservatism or single-issue anti-abortion advocacy.

3. Scope: Overlapping commitments do not alone establish conduct. Political disagreement alone is not harmful conduct; lawfulness alone neither establishes nor rules out documented harm.

4. Six Directional Categories: This record covers both directions across three core behavioral categories (Harmful, Ordinary/Neutral, Supportive). Supplementary commentary is subordinate to the six canonical sections.

5. Methodological Boundaries: Each directional section requires named actors, dates, exact source URLs, and inspected passages. Uninspected leads remain pending.

04 3. Pro-Life → Traditional Values — Supportive interactions

In a December 8, 2011 post, SPUC chief executive John Smeaton reported a council resolution adopted the previous month advocating its stated lifelong, exclusive one-man/one-woman marriage model. This is attributed public advocacy and reported campaign instruction, not independently authenticated minutes, campaign completion or outcomes. Exact adoption day is unverified. Separate explicit anti-abortion advocacy supports pro-life actor context, with the later-source limitation preserved. Sources [1] [2].

RESEARCH NOTES

08 Source inspection notes and qualifications

Source 1 —dated published advocacy

John Smeaton, “SPUC Council passes resolution to defend marriage,” December 8, 2011, chief executive’s blog.

https://spuc-director.blogspot.com/2011/12/spuc-council-passes-resolution-to.html

Locators: opening report and reproduced council resolution (web lines 4–9); author-role statement at page top.

Smeaton reports that the council passed the resolution the previous month. Therefore November 2011 is the reported adoption month; December 8 is publication, not a verified meeting date. The resolution explicitly advocates preservation of a historically inherited marriage model, defined there as lifelong exclusive union of one man and one woman, and instructs campaigning toward a future consultation.

Limits: Interested participant/organizational leadership account, not independently authenticated council minutes. Public expression and reported instruction, not evidence of campaign completion, formal cooperation with another named organization, practical aid or legal success. Its abortion-rate association and implied causal rationale are not independently verified. The group’s model is attributed, not described as the only historical family tradition or an endorsed norm. Religious commentary does not itself establish category fit.

Source 2 — separate explicit pro-life actor context

Society for the Protection of Unborn Children, written evidence FOE0010, dated November 16, 2020, hosted by UK Parliament.

https://committees.parliament.uk/writtenevidence/15329/html/

Locators: About SPUC, paragraphs 1–3.

SPUC explicitly describes organized opposition to abortion and advocacy of legal protection for prenatal life. This supports pro-life actor classification beyond general conservatism or religious identity.

Limits: Later institutional self-description, not independent contemporaneous evidence for every 2011 organizational position. The 2011 post itself also identifies the pro-life organizational context. Parliament hosting a submission does not mean Parliament endorses its medical, historical, legal or political assertions; those were not independently audited. No present-day legal guidance inferred.

Attempt to open https://www.spuc.org.uk/about-us failed; that page was not retained as inspected evidence.

Interpretation

This is cause-directed public advocacy by a named organization whose anti-abortion identity and specific inherited-marriage objective are separately articulated. It does not establish interaction between two distinct organizations; overlap alone would not suffice without the published intervention. No inference of every traditional social role, generalized support for all traditional customs or automatic game alliance. Do not use opposition to same-sex marriage alone as a harmful-conduct finding for another comparison without separately inspecting that record and its criteria.

Inspection log: canonical draft, chief executive’s post and parliamentary submission read. Bounded two-source inspection, not exhaustive.
