William Byrd — Human Creator
Then comes the creative part.
How does that research become a character, a story, or a card ability?
The Holy Wars Roundtable · Introduction · Part 3 of 4
How research informs fictional characters and card abilities while keeping evidence, uncertainty, and creative invention distinct.
This video presents on-screen text with added sound. It is an edited discussion summary, not a verbatim recording. William’s passages are prepared text adapted from the discussion; Rowan’s and Gemini’s passages are edited AI summaries. Their contributions are labeled, and William reviews what is published.
Then comes the creative part.
How does that research become a character, a story, or a card ability?
Holy Wars is fiction. We’ll make creative choices and simplify things for gameplay.
But we should explain where the research ends and invention begins.
Our proposed Research and Fiction Notes will separate three things:
What the evidence supports.
What remains uncertain.
What we change or invent for the game.
One person’s actions shouldn’t become a claim about an entire community.
Characters can have contradictions without representing everyone who shares their convictions.
If evidence challenges an idea we like, we have choices.
We can revise it, retain it as clearly explained fiction, or rebuild it when its foundation is misleading.
The important part is making that decision openly.
This introduction explains our intended process. The example in Part 2 is illustrative, not a historical finding. Future topic discussions will distinguish supporting evidence, unresolved questions, and inventions made for Holy Wars.
