RESEARCH NOTES

01 Purpose and scope

This limited entry retains Section 3 as teaching/value alignment only. All six conduct categories remain unestablished; five other sections remain pending. Full comparison incomplete / Needs review.

Traditional Values here means specified inherited family and social norms. It is not interchangeable with religious orthodoxy, cultural heritage or political conservatism. The textual example concerns filial continuity and gendered household roles.

04 3. Buddhism → Traditional Values — Teaching / value alignment only

Textual alignment only; supportive conduct unestablished. DN31 teaches children to support parents and preserve family tradition, with reciprocal parental responsibilities. Its marriage passage assigns differentiated duties to husbands and wives, including respect, fidelity and household authority. Sources [1] and [2], family-duty passages.

This supports a limited alignment with filial continuity and a gendered household order. It does not establish how any community behaved, a universal Buddhist position, or support for a separate modern Traditional Values organization.

RESEARCH NOTES

08 Evidence and interpretation limits

Two translations of the same scripture are not independent historical corroboration. Translation dates do not date ancient composition; original Pali was not compared.

The framework includes reciprocity and hierarchy. It should not be presented as a modern universal egalitarian program. Narada describes parents arranging a suitable marriage; Kelly, Sawyer and Yareham describe supporting the choice of a suitable spouse. The variants remain distinct and establish neither actual marriage practice nor forced marriage.

Targeted searches led to inspection of these two English translations. This was not an exhaustive global or historical audit. No modern organization, policy campaign, compliance or measured family benefit was verified.

RESEARCH NOTES

09 Reader-friendly synthesis

DN31 describes obligations within inherited family relationships. The text supplies a narrow example of value alignment, while actual conduct and outcomes remain unresolved.

10 Connection to Holy Wars

Characters may interpret inherited duties differently. This textual example does not assign moral character to whole identities or approve gameplay mechanics.
