RESEARCH NOTES

01 Purpose and scope

Full comparison incomplete / Needs review. 5 directional categories remain pending. Pending means unestablished in this bounded inspection, not historical absence.

Categories are analytical lenses with overlapping people and institutions. The finding concerns named actors in a particular period; it does not establish a universal position or a moral score.

REAL-WORLD · EVIDENCE

04 3. Conservative → LGBTQ+ — Supportive interactions

In a reception speech published on July 25, 2012, Conservative leader David Cameron publicly supported same-sex civil marriage and LGBTQ+ inclusion. This documents supportive expression by a particular politician, not universal party agreement or reciprocal endorsement. The official text acknowledges internal disagreement. Source [1].

ROWAN — SUPERSEDING BOUNDED SOURCE AUDIT — 27 October 2026

Conservative ↔ LGBTQ+

Definition corrections

LGBTQ+ identifies people and communities associated with diverse sexual orientations and gender identities; it is not itself one political doctrine or advocacy organization. Identity does not establish activism or party alignment. Identify a specific advocacy goal where relevant. LGBTQ+ people can also be conservative. Conservatism varies by country, time and individual; it does not entail one universal LGBTQ+ policy.

Public supportive expression can be documented without a formal coalition or separate named recipient organization. Criticism, protest or policy disagreement alone does not establish harmful conduct. Specific discriminatory measures must be assessed on their documented operation and effects, rather than automatically exempted as mere disagreement. Shared citizenship alone does not establish neutral coexistence.

Six canonical directional conduct categories

1. Conservative → LGBTQ+ — Harmful: pending/unestablished.

2. Conservative → LGBTQ+ — Ordinary/neutral: pending/unestablished.

3. Conservative → LGBTQ+ — Supportive: retain David Cameron's public advocacy for same-sex civil marriage and LGBTQ+ inclusion in a Downing Street reception speech published by GOV.UK on 25 July 2012. The text identifies his Conservative Party leadership and acknowledges internal disagreement. This establishes his expressed position, not every Conservative's views or all subsequent policies.

4. LGBTQ+ → Conservative — Harmful: pending/unestablished.

5. LGBTQ+ → Conservative — Ordinary/neutral: pending/unestablished.

6. LGBTQ+ → Conservative — Supportive: pending/unestablished.

Do not infer reciprocal support from reception attendance, silence, applause, or overlapping identities. Pending means unestablished here, not historically absent.

GOV.UK, Prime Minister's speech at Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Reception:

https://www.gov.uk/government/speeches/prime-ministers-speech-at-lesbian-gay-bisexual-and-transgender-reception

Entire short speech and metadata inspected. Official primary transcript; host marks both publication and delivery as 25 July 2012. Retain publication date in the finding rather than relying on cross-source event-date assumptions.

Speech promotes marriage equality and inclusive institutions while distinguishing his party's internal differences. It supports the narrower public-expression finding; no claim that the speech itself changed law, reduced discrimination, or represented every attendee or party member is established. Historical polling claims, descriptions of previous legal reforms and other assertions within the speech are not independently verified or adopted. No current legal guidance is offered. Audio not compared; this is evidence of the official published text, not independent audience corroboration.

09 Identity, advocacy and outcomes

LGBTQ+ identifies people and communities, not one political doctrine. Identity does not establish activism or party alignment; LGBTQ+ people can also be conservative. No reciprocal endorsement is inferred from attendance, applause, silence or overlapping identity.

The official published transcript is evidence of expression. Audio was not compared. The speech’s polling, historical legal claims and other assertions are not adopted as independently verified facts; no law change or reduced discrimination is established.
